Commencing in 2027, an excise tax will be imposed on assorted beverages and water containing sugar and sugar alternatives
The Mongolian Law on Excise Tax stipulates that “assorted beverages and water containing sugar and sugar substitutes, provided that these substances exceed 5 grams per 100 milliliters, will incur an excise tax of 500 MNT in 2027, 525 MNT in 2028, and 550 MNT in 2029''. This provision will come into effect on January 1, 2027.
Issues to be discussed in the 2024 Fall Session of State Great Hural
In alignment with Parliament Resolution No. 31 dated August 30, 2024, the following matters are set to be addressed during the "Fall Session of 2024":
Energy tariff may increase
On August 21, 2020, the government indicated plans to discuss amendments to the Law on Energy and related regulations, asserting that "Energy prices will be gradually increased in line with the government's priority policy". There were unofficial reports claiming a 30 percent increase would take effect in November of that year, yet no official decision has been made regarding the exact percentage. Furthermore, the Energy Regulatory Commission and the Press and Public Relations Department of the Government have stated that "research is currently being conducted".
Consequently, it is expected that energy prices will likely rise in the near future or next year.
Mongolian Parliament issued resolution of the the Mongolian Government's 2024-2028 Action Program
The "2024-2028 Action Program of the Government of Mongolia" received approval through Appendix 1 of Resolution No. 21, which was issued by the State Great Hural of Mongolia on August 27, 2024. Individuals and organizations are invited to explore the program pertinent to their areas of expertise.
